Julian Harding scoops medals in Luxembourg Euro Meet

Andrea M. Agius, Mark Sammut and Nicola Muscat register personal bests

Neptunes’ rising swimming star Julian Harding has again made the headlines in the first month of the new year. After breaking five out of six Group ‘C’ national records in December, he had reason to be satisfied after seeing Malta’s flag hoisted at the Luxembourg International Euro Swim Meet courtesy of his excellent performances.

Harding, 16 in February, was again in impressive form in the 50 and 100 metres butterfly races as he placed second and third respectively to win silver and bronze in fields comprising over 40 entries from over 20 countries.

He improved his previous best time in the one lap race when he clocked 27.36 seconds, while his 1:00.46 in the 100 metres was 0.09 seconds outside his PB.

Other Neptunes swimmers who produced lifetimes bests in Luxembourg were Nicola Muscat, Mark Sammut and Andrea M. Agius. Muscat swam the 50 and 100 Free in 27.06 and 58.85, Sammut, the 100 Back in 1:01.71 and Agius the 50 and 200 Breast when clocking 31.38 and 2:29.79 respectively.

The form of these swimmers at this time of the year indicates promising tidings as the season reaches a peak later on this year.

They deserve all the best of luck especially from the club’s clan.
