Camilleri to extend stint at RN Bogliasco
Neptunes and Malta player Steven Camilleri has been re-engaged by Rari Nantes Bogliasco, the Italian top division waterpolo club from Genova, for the coming season.
The Maltese player, who is the 2012 Malta Player of the Year, is the only foreigner who has been retained by Bogliasco. This will be the sixth successive season the 26-year-old player will turn out for the Italian team for whom he has been top scorer for four out of the five years he has been playing for Bogliasco. He has also repeatedly featured in the top positions in the Italian overall scorers’ charts.
Besides his scoring ability Camilleri has been an important cog for the team as he has been employed to fill several positions.
Bogliasco will start their Coppa Italia commitments in the last week of September followed by the Serie A1 league games in the opening week of October.
This summer, Camilleri again helped Neptunes win the league title for the fourth consecutive time while also ending as Malta’s top scorer with 63 goals, an average of 3.98 goals per match.
Although he is now more of an all-rounder, it is the fourth year running that he ended on top of Malta’s scorers’ list.
